C’est en juin 1986 que j’y étais débarqué…tout seul, armé d’un billet de train que j’ai troqué, enfin pas vraiment, mais je me suis acheté un vélo, et je suis parti de Cherbourg, sans parapluie, et aussi sans terroristes à mes trousses, cette année là Kkadafi faisait peur aux touristes, qui au grand désespoir du patron de l’auberge de jeunesse de Cherbourg, annulait leur voyage, donc moi après quelques jours là bas je me suis rendu jusqu’aux USA?

It was in June 1986 that I landed in Normandy, all alone, armed with my train ticket, that was changed in a bicycle, un vélo…and left Cherbourg, with not one terrorist around, that year, 1986, Khadafi was scaring the hell out of tourists, and to the great dismay of the director of the Youth Hostel, was also scaring lot of tourist who had booked to his Hostel, and he was mad…so I left and finally got to the USA?

En fait il s’agit d’un hôtel au bord de la baie du Mont Saint-Michel, avec un solitaire drapeau américain, je crois que c’était à Danville, ou Agoncoutainville ou Barneville…sais plus, mais entre Cherbourg et le Mont Saint-Michel…l’information un peu nébuleuse vient non pas de mon petit carnet noir mais plutôt bleu, où je notais les places où je m’arrêtais le soir pour une journée ou des semaines parfois….

In fact it was an hostel, arboring a single american flag, by the Baie du Mont Saint-Michel, I think it was Danville, but it could be Agoncoutainville or Barneville…these names I noted in my litte not black but blue book, each day where I was….
