J’avais plein de projets pour ces jours et ceux qui les ont précédés, finalement le temps a passé et encore une fois, l’impression étrange de ne pas avoir arrêté mais je ne peux exactement dire ce que j’ai fait, la vie de retraité, du moins ces semaines ci, cela semble être cela….
I did had many projects for these days and the ones that preceded them, but finally it does seems I did not stop, always doing something, the problem is I am not quite sure what I have done exactly…must be that a retired life, at least these few past weeks…
Au moins entre deux esquisses de modèles imaginaires, j’ai commencé celle-ci, non imaginaire, d’après une vieille photo trouvée sur le net du top modèle Kate Moss, je me suis dit que cela ferait un bon test pour la nouvelle tablette et voir ce que cela donnera…
At least, between some quick sketches of imaginary models, I stubbled upon this old photo founded on the net of one of my favorite older top model, Kate Moss, I thought that would make a nice try for this still rather new tablet….
J’en suis encore presque qu’au tout début du travail, pas encore bien définie ce modèle, mais je trouve souvent ces débuts, un peu flou, sans trop de détails bien intéressant, une esquisse en attente…
I am still to the very early stage of this new sketch, there is something quite interesting when starting a new sketch or painting, some not very defined things going on, or more like taking shapes, but still leaving place to expectations of what it will become I guess…

Parfois c’est le jeu en ligne, non pas les paris, plus piloter en réalité virtuelle des F1, des avions, FreeCell, pas en réalité virtuelle…. mais dernièrement c’est plutôt par mon nouvel achat, je suis maintenant dans un ménage à trois…remplacé, en fait ajouté une nouvelle tablette, avec un stylus qui offre plus de sensibilité, au niveau de la pression du trait et surtout de l’angle du crayon, ce que n’offrait pas l’ancienne tablette, pas sûr que le coût assez élevé en vaut la peine à ce point ci, je verrai à l’usage, pour le moment une est sur un ordi, l’autre sur mon autre ordi un peu moins performant…et j’ai passé du temps à tester et gribouiller, un exemple, une autre de ses modèles imaginés…plus afin d’expérimenter la tablette que pour produire un chef d’oeuvre…en attendant j’essaie de ne pas froisser l’égo de mon ancienne tablette …pense pas qu’elle le sait mais pas grave :), je continue à l’utiliser aussi et voir comment améliorer la touche avec les paramètres de plumes dans Photoshop. Est-ce que cela en vaut vraiment le coût, pas sûr, disons que c’est un autre achat un peu impulsif peut-être, j’aime mieux appeler cela un coup de coeur…qui ne sont jamais bien réfléchis..:D
Sometimes it is because I am playing on line, no not betting…more like flying a plane, piloting a F1 in VR, playing FreeCell, no need for VR here…but more recently it is more an addition of a new graphic tablet, replacing or adding to the old one, the new one has more sensitivity in pressure and tilt angle of the pen stylus, the older one does not offer tilt possibility but has some setting for pen pressure, don’t want to hurt my old one, but I don’t think it or she does feel anything …:), I keep using it alongside the new one, one on the newer computer, the other on the older…it is some sort of a threesome…:) but at the same time, I did realize I wasn’t using all the subtilties of Photoshop pen settings, and it is helping, have to work more on this…., actually both do produce nice results, but more manipulations are needed using the old one, is it worth the price of the new one, which is quite expensive, not sure yet, I guess I will find out, or it will be another of my rash move buying something that I think I cannot live without it..:D

Oui comme je l’expliquais tant bien que mal à Maya en fin de semaine, parfois j’ai de la difficulté à garder le rythme et à dessiner, peindre, bloguer régulièrement et bien sûr m’occuper adéquatement de la chatte, mais c’est la faute à Microsoft, EA sports et autres calamités du genre, parfois lorsque je tombe ou retombe dans ces jeux, piloter des avions ou des F1, ou des voitures de rally, je me laisse prendre au piège, bien volontairement d’ailleurs…comme jusqu’à tard dans la nuit de samedi à dimanche, je m’entêtais à résoudre une partie de Spider niveau expert, je renouais avec cette suite après des années de d’addiction….victoire à 3:30 AM…la chatte était désespérée de son esclave humain qui se laisse si facilement transférer à un autre maître…:)
Yes poor Maya, does not understand how her human slave is able to let himself enslave by other masters, namely Microsoft, EA Play and others things like flying, racing in a F1, and after many years of being free from it, got taken, very willingly by Microsoft Solitaire collection Spider, did not remember exactly the goal and way to do it, so by 3:30 AM, I finally won an expert game, yeah, but Maya was pretty desperate of her now reclaimed slave…
Oui par contre j’ai tout de même dessiné un peu à la tablette, mais pour ce matin, j’opte plutôt de dépoussiérer une photo d’un tableau qui lui aussi devrait être retravaillé, celui de Liz, quoiqu’il semble que ce tableau est inspiré d’une photo où le visage de Liz, aurait été photoshopé dans une photo d’une modèle fétichiste, mais pour moi c’est tout de même un tableau à propos de LIz, une version du mois d’août 2022…. / But, I was not completely tied to games this week end, manage to draw quite a bit on my tablet, but this morning I won’t show the latest things about that, but more an old version of a painting waiting reworking, namely the one of Liz, which it seems was falsely photoshop on a fetish model, but that is besides the point, this is just a painting about her…

Il semble que je ne puisse faire autre chose que de l’utiliser pour dessiner…mes pinceaux, les réels, doivent se sentir délaissés, quoique Maya revendique le titre de l’oubliée par excellence, disons très vocalement, par contre je peux regagner sa confiance avec des croquettes Temptations, de la nourriture et en la flattant et la laissant dormir sur les genoux de son humain…:) Donc un nouveau sketch, peut-être qu’un jour je vais retrouver le chemin vers l’atelier, mais pour le moment c’est mon médium privilégié…j’y vois plusieurs avantages, mais cela pourrait faire le sujet d’un article au complet, plus tard peut-être…pourquoi la tablette au lieu du canvas, pour le moment du moins… En attendant les deux premières étapes de ce nouveau sketch…
It does seems that right now, the tablet has the upper edge on my brushes, the real ones, the easel and paints, maybe it won’t last but now I feel like a new lover, we can’t be apart…:). Of course besides my Atelier who must be feeling betrayed, Maya voice very loud that she’s the one that is left alone and betrayed…I win her back with some Temptations, food and petting of course…not counting letting her sleep on my knees when I fall asleep watching late TV…:) So a new sketch of an unknown model, the first two stages, so far using the tablet seems to provide many advantages, easy to get working, easy to correct or change your mind, I could probably go for a full post on the pro and contra of this medium, maybe this would make a whole post, maybe sometimes down the line…
Une autre vielle esquisse d’une de mes modèles favorites, Lonneke Engel, populaire dans les années 90 je crois…donc parti de la mauvais version, qui était moins avancée que la dernière / Did not start with the right version of this sketch of one of my old favorite model, Lonneke Engel, going back to the nineties I think…so I did reworked it today but started with an older version than the last one…
Et celle que normalement j’aurais dû utiliser afin de continuer ce sketch, qui date de 2015, pensais pas que cela faisait si longtemps..:) / And the one that I should have used to reworked, it is a bit more recent, a distant recent, 2015….
Et finalement celle d’aujourd’hui, c’est en faisant le ‘ménage’ des fichiers que je me suis rendu compte de la méprise…fausse identification…donc deux versions plus avancées, la pose est légèrement modifié ou corrigée selon la photo du modèle / And today’s version, they are similar of course but some corrections and changing in the pose were applied, a case of mistaken identity I suppose, but I will take it…
On peut dire et j’en suis conscient, que j’ai une certaine obsession à peindre ou dessiner des femmes, élégantes, portant assez souvent des bottes…mais j’ai tout de même d’autres sujets obsessifs, comme les bouleversements climatiques et la disparation graduelle et prévisible des glaciers et autres perturbations de l’environnement nordique, sans compter toutes les autres immenses problèmes qui se profilent à l’horizon, il y en a bien d’autres des obsessions ou parfois des intérêts, mais pour le moment je vous fais grâce de vous en faire part….pas le goût de parler de guerres, famines, déplacement des réfugiés, les gouvernements totalitaires, la crise écologique mondiale, quoique parfois je pourrais aussi causer sur des choses agréables, James Webb et la sonde Euclide, l’exploration spatiale, les sciences, l’Art en général, mais cela ce sera pour d’autres occasions…
I do know that my works may or is definitely obsessed with those models, wearing high fashion items, and of course boots, but I do have some other obsessive thoughts too …. I am multidisciplinary I guess…:) One of those many others, either good or bad things, is the climatic changes and the dramatic changes on northern ecology and the melting of glaciers, possibly completely disappearing at some not so distant point and all others problems rising from this, for now I won’t dwell more on these others things, I will not bestow this upon you this morning, don’t feel like talking or writing about wars, ecological disasters, hunger, fascism or all those other human race characteristics:) Oh there is also some good, encouraging things, looking to astronomy photographs, thinking about the Universe, Art, and of course there is good in just plain people all around, most of people are decent, at least I want to believe it 😀

Quant au sujet de ce matin, il y a longtemps que je pensais à commencer une série d’oeuvres portant sur des sujets qui me tiennent à coeur, au lieu de me lancer dans un nouveau tableau à l’huile ou à l’acrylique, j’ai plutôt opté pour explorer ce sujet en utilisant ma tablette, peut-être qu’éventuellement ce sera un ou des tableaux, pour le moment le début avec quelques extraits de cette esquisse faite avec Photoshop et ma tablette.
As for this morning subject, I have been thinking about a serie based on my Arctic photographs and doing some paintings, I don’t know if it will be a celebration of their beauty or mourning their disparation, or both maybe, so this morning I thought is was kind of easier to start it using my tablet and Photoshop, still want to explore more this medium and it is less challenging than starting a new painting, maybe eventually they will lead to work on a canvas, for now it will be some computer sketches.

J’espère que vous allez les apprécier, le moins que je puisse dire est que c’est bien plaisant de travailler ce medium, cela apporte un certain réconfort, à défaut de fournir une solution, on oublie momentanément tout en restant éveillé à cette situation / I hope you will enjoy them, what I can tell so far is that drawing painting with this medium is lot of fun, and a nice way to let go of those fears….but still being aware of it.
Hum ce serait bien difficile avec une toile, peu de medium ont la capacité de permettre de palier à un manque de planification….vous me voyez probablement venir, une autre esquisse à la tablette, je ne suggérerais pas de commencer sans avoir l’idée de la composition de l’oeuvre, mais lorsqu’on se laisse aller à gribouiller, on ne pense pas à cela…un peu comme on griffonne dans la marge d’une feuille, comme par exemple dans certains cours où mon attention allait ailleurs à ce que le professeur essayait de nous enseigner..:D
That would be almost impossible to correct while painting, watercoloring or working with pastel…You probably guess, here he comes with the joy of working with a tablet…:) I would not suggested to start something without some planning, with paints I will do that, but sketching on a tablet is more like doodling in a paper sheet margin listening to something that may be or limited interest..:D

Et celle retravaillée en étirant le ‘papier’ ou plus correctement les limites de l’image, certains avantages de ce bel outil que je redécouvre, quoique parfois la multitude de fonctions et d’outils me rend un peu perdu et parfois ralentit l’élan, finalement j’utilise bien peu toutes ces possibilités, peut-être qu’un tablette plus évoluée permettant l’utilisation plus naturelle du stylet, un peu comme un véritable pinceau serait bien intéressant, celle que j’ai permet de simuler la pose d’un pinceau, mais il manque des subtilités ou je ne les ai pas découvertes encore, possible….faudrait que je lise un peu plus sur ces outils…:)
And the one reworked, stretching the paper or more correctly the virtual canvas size, difficult to do with a real canvas…one of the advantage or interest of using this numeric tool, my tablet will allow to somewhat mimic the real pose of a brush, but does lack some feeling and possibilities to follow my hand rotation and pressure, there is some but probably more advance tablet would permit that, besides there is so many functions and tools in Photoshop, difficult to know them all, finally I realize I am using few of them and there always the need to change parameters in dialog boxes that will break the drawing flow, but it is quite flexible, for me I am using a few, probably just an very small part of what is possible, have to study it more, and not while doodling in the margins, well there is no place to doodle in this case, need some paper sheet besides..:D
Mais je dois admettre dessiner sans modèle, un peu rouillé encore, mais bien plaisant tout de même…But I must admit, drawing without a photo or model, I think I am not quite back to it, difficult but fun…
Pas fait grand chose côté dessin ou peinture ces deux derniers jours, alors afin de secouer un peu cette paresse du samedi, sorti la tablette graphique et continuer ce gribouillage d’un modèle qui sort de je ne sais pas trop où, en gros de mon imagination.
Did not draw or paint over the last few days, so time to get back to it, so this morning got to my tablet, keep working on this sketch of a model coming out of the blue or my imagination, nice way to start a lazy Saturday morning besides few others things…

Je n’avais pas réalisé que j’avais encore tant de photos de versions intermédiaires de mes tableaux en cours, une autre du mois d’août 2022, à peine plus d’un an, toujours en attente ce tableau, avec les autres…:)
I did not quite realize how many photos of my in progress paintings I took at different stages, here is one from a little bit more than a year, as for this painting, it is also sitting on ‘dedusting’ row and waiting to be reworked, I am getting to it…sometimes down there.
