Non pas de top modèle aujourd’hui, ou pas tout-à-fait top modèle, moins connu, non plutôt une de ces innombrables clichés, merci à la photo numérique, qui fait qu’on risque des clichés en se disant, je vais les effacer si cela ne m’inspire rien du tout….enfin tout cela pour dire que j’ai de nombreuses photos, des milliers, qui je le sais ne seront jamais matière à grande exposition, souvent ces clichés sont pris dans des conditions vraiment loin d’être idéales, ici dans un autobus, de la fenêtre, en longeant le port de Montréal, la photo est plutôt ordinaire, mais je me disais que cela pourrait servir, à quoi je n’en suis pas sûr mais pourquoi pas en faire une étude ou esquisse, à la tablette, en se servant de la photo originale comme modèle, la photo n’est pas placé en fond d’image, tout est tracé, dessiné, peint à partir de l’écran vide….le syndrome de l’écran blanc, un syndrome que je ne connais heureusement pas…:)

No top model, or not so top model either, just one of my thousands of not so beautiful pics, oh each have something, ok maybe not all of them, but having something doesn’t mean you want to hang this pic on your wall, maybe some do but most of the time they will stay on a hard drive, waiting for some way to use them, like I told myself each time I do click the button of my camera, I know I might use them but never quite sure how and mainly when…so this one I thought it might make a good sketch, using my tablet, not sure if I do want to use a canvas and make a real painting out of it, so for now and probably ever, it is a digital sketch, I could have use the pic as a reference layer in the file, but like on a real canvas, I prefer starting from a blank sheet, more precisely a blank screen, colored or not it depend and draw, paint, move the pixels more freely, maybe at the same time trying to reassure myself that I can still paint or draw, and as for the blank canvas or screen canvas, it does seem I never really experienced this, luckily…

Et la première version de cette esquisse, cela ferait peut-être un tableau intéressant, moi est les paysages, je n’en fais pas beaucoup, mais si un jour je veux rentabiliser mon art et subvenir partiellement, très partiellement à mes besoins de retraité, faudrait peut-être que j’y pense….on verra….

And the first version of this digital sketch, maybe it would make a nice painting, landscape are maybe easier to sell, which would not hurt, being retired, money is become more and more scarce, each time I did a landscape, it went, maybe the Universe is sending me a message…:D

Une esquisse revisitée….a revisited sketch….

Si je me fie au numéro que je lui ai associé en 2015, c’était ma première tentative / If I rely on this sketch number, it was my first attempt at it in 2015

Il y a eu plusieurs autres versions, voici celle de 2022, pas très satisfait du dessin, voir photo modèle à la fin de l’article / Many versions followed, here is the last version dating from 2022, not quite happy with the drawing, see model photo for comparaison.

E-0001-024 – Carla Brown 2, digital, 2022-08-10

Quelques étapes intermédiaires, afin de corriger l’angle de la tête, et surtout l’expression du visage, pas évident pour moi en peinture ou dessin, pas vraiment plus facile avec un stylus et une tablette…je triche…en utilisant une manipulation afin de modifier en partie l’image…pour le moment pas très intéressant 🙂 / Some intermediary stages, trying to correct the head leaning and mainly the face expression and features, not easy for me in painting or drawing, not really easier using a pen and a tablet….resorted to a cheap trick…modifying in Photoshop part of the image to correct the angle, not quite there yet…:)

Par la suite, décidé d’ajouter des calques, conserver ce qui est fait et corriger par dessus, les illustrateurs et graphistes, ainsi que les dessinateurs Autocad on pourrait ajouter, ce que je suis, en fait j’étais si je maintiens mon ‘statut’ de retraité…sont habitués aux calques, déformation professionnelle je présume..:), le visage commence à me plaire un peu plus mais… / Decided to add layers, so I can keep what has been done and work on top of it, graphists, illustrators and to some extent, even Autocad drafter, which I am or was…are familiar with. It is becoming better I think but not there yet….

Donc ajout de quelques calques de plus, deux en fait, afin de peaufiner le dessin et les teintes, je pense que cela prend forme / So a few more layers, two in fact, one for correcting the drawing, another more for adding light and shadows

Idéalement je pense que je devrais ‘réserver’ des calques pour des éléments spécifiques, vêtements, cheveux, etc, on peut les conserver pour travail futur ou les fusionner afin de réduire la complexité du fichier, pour le moment, un peu échevelé comme structure, dans l’élan du dessin on oublie facilement la ‘structure’ après tout plus plaisant de dessiner que de structurer….les images ci dessous montrent chacun des calques isolés l’un par rapport à l’autre et finalement la photo du modèle… / I guess, ideally it would be better to use each layer for a single purpose, like clothing, body, hair, details and combine them later or keep them, depending if you want to keep the ability to work on it, for the time being, it is a bit anything on each layer, not quite structured, but after all it is more like in the being in the process of drawing and painting…following are images of each layer, isolated from the whole sketch and this model photo

Vendredi, fou et cyber lundi….From black Friday to Cyber Monday…

J’avais plein de projets pour ces jours et ceux qui les ont précédés, finalement le temps a passé et encore une fois, l’impression étrange de ne pas avoir arrêté mais je ne peux exactement dire ce que j’ai fait, la vie de retraité, du moins ces semaines ci, cela semble être cela….

I did had many projects for these days and the ones that preceded them, but finally it does seems I did not stop, always doing something, the problem is I am not quite sure what I have done exactly…must be that a retired life, at least these few past weeks…

Au moins entre deux esquisses de modèles imaginaires, j’ai commencé celle-ci, non imaginaire, d’après une vieille photo trouvée sur le net du top modèle Kate Moss, je me suis dit que cela ferait un bon test pour la nouvelle tablette et voir ce que cela donnera…

At least, between some quick sketches of imaginary models, I stubbled upon this old photo founded on the net of one of my favorite older top model, Kate Moss, I thought that would make a nice try for this still rather new tablet….

J’en suis encore presque qu’au tout début du travail, pas encore bien définie ce modèle, mais je trouve souvent ces débuts, un peu flou, sans trop de détails bien intéressant, une esquisse en attente…

I am still to the very early stage of this new sketch, there is something quite interesting when starting a new sketch or painting, some not very defined things going on, or more like taking shapes, but still leaving place to expectations of what it will become I guess…

Facile…de se laisser distraire / Easy…to let himself distracted

Parfois c’est le jeu en ligne, non pas les paris, plus piloter en réalité virtuelle des F1, des avions, FreeCell, pas en réalité virtuelle…. mais dernièrement c’est plutôt par mon nouvel achat, je suis maintenant dans un ménage à trois…remplacé, en fait ajouté une nouvelle tablette, avec un stylus qui offre plus de sensibilité, au niveau de la pression du trait et surtout de l’angle du crayon, ce que n’offrait pas l’ancienne tablette, pas sûr que le coût assez élevé en vaut la peine à ce point ci, je verrai à l’usage, pour le moment une est sur un ordi, l’autre sur mon autre ordi un peu moins performant…et j’ai passé du temps à tester et gribouiller, un exemple, une autre de ses modèles imaginés…plus afin d’expérimenter la tablette que pour produire un chef d’oeuvre…en attendant j’essaie de ne pas froisser l’égo de mon ancienne tablette …pense pas qu’elle le sait mais pas grave :), je continue à l’utiliser aussi et voir comment améliorer la touche avec les paramètres de plumes dans Photoshop. Est-ce que cela en vaut vraiment le coût, pas sûr, disons que c’est un autre achat un peu impulsif peut-être, j’aime mieux appeler cela un coup de coeur…qui ne sont jamais bien réfléchis..:D

Sometimes it is because I am playing on line, no not betting…more like flying a plane, piloting a F1 in VR, playing FreeCell, no need for VR here…but more recently it is more an addition of a new graphic tablet, replacing or adding to the old one, the new one has more sensitivity in pressure and tilt angle of the pen stylus, the older one does not offer tilt possibility but has some setting for pen pressure, don’t want to hurt my old one, but I don’t think it or she does feel anything …:), I keep using it alongside the new one, one on the newer computer, the other on the older…it is some sort of a threesome…:) but at the same time, I did realize I wasn’t using all the subtilties of Photoshop pen settings, and it is helping, have to work more on this…., actually both do produce nice results, but more manipulations are needed using the old one, is it worth the price of the new one, which is quite expensive, not sure yet, I guess I will find out, or it will be another of my rash move buying something that I think I cannot live without it..:D
