La photo n’est pas extraordinaire, mais tout d’un coup cela m’a frappé que tout a changé dans ce coin-là…anciennement il y avait une cour de triage du Canadien Pacifique, une brasserie, qui devait vivre grâce au milliers de travailleurs de cet atelier…un photo prise fin novembre 1981, je crois….déjjà la neige était arrivé à Montréal cette année là…

This is not one of my greatest shots, but then I realized how much things had changer in that area over the last 30 years, there was a large shop, Canadian Pacific Railways maintenance shop, a brassserie, living probably largely from the thousands of people who once work in this shop, it was end of november 1981, snow had already fallen in Montreal that year…the photo

Éventuellement je vais retourner photographier ce coin, mais en attendant je me suis dit que ‘Street view’ de Google donnerait une bonne idée, l’atelier a disparu, un quartier a été construit, la brasserie a fait place à une résidence pour personnes agées, et un CLSC (centre de soins de santé..mais qui ferme à 20 hrs…) a été construit dans le fond du champs, cachant la montagne maintenant…j’aI aussi fait l’exercice pour l’endroit où j’ai habité à Winnipeg, et là encore je reconnaissait à peine l’endroit..le temps passe…mais la neige est parti aussi…:)

Eventually I should return and photograph areas I did photograph in the 70-80’s, probably like there, I would see lot of changes, like here, the large shop is gone, the bar too, now it is an old folks residence, a brand new neighborhood has been built, grocery and liquor store, and a CLSC, some health center we have here in Quebec, but don’t go there if you’re sick, it close at 8 PM…have to be sick from 7 AM to 8 PM….:), and you cannot see anymore the mountain. you can from other signts but not from here anymore, but the snow is gone…:D
