Un sterne arctique, je ne sais pas si c’est le ‘Nord’ mais ces oiseaux sont particulièrement voraces, le cuisinier de la station, lorsqu’il faisait cuire des steaks sur le BBQ, devait les surveiller, ils s’approchaient du grill et tentaient de s’emparer de morceau de viande, je ne sais pas si c’est le cuisinier qui brandissait ses pinces et ustensiles, ou la chaleur du BBQ ou le poids de la viande, ou l’ensemble de ces facteurs, mais leurs attaques échouaient…par contre j’ai déjà vu une bataille rangée, enfin en partie en vol et de coups de bec au sol entre les goélands et les sternes, qui se disputaient âprement des carcasses de poulet congelés qu’on avait dû jeter au dépotoir, le délai d’expiration d’un an étant  atteint….c’était assez impressionnant…

An Arctic Jaeger or Parasetic Jeager, I don’t know if it is the North or scarcity of food but these birds are quite voracious, our cook when he tried to cook steaks on the BBQ had to intervene….these birds were trying to take away the meat, I don’t know either if it was our cook with his tools up in the air, or the heat from the grill or just the heavyweight steak, but these attacks would always fail….on other occasion I saw a strange battle between Gulls and these Jaeger, but it was fierce in the air as on the ground, each giving each other strong beak hits, they were fighting over some frozen chicken we had to disposed off, their time was due and after a year they had to be put to the dump, quite a show….
