De retour, presque…I am back, almost…

Finalement j’ai récupéré mon service internet, mais il se faisait un peu tard hier soir pour préparer quelque chose de plus élaboré, donc une photo d’une église, prise à Hambourg, possiblement luthérienne, mais je ne mettrai pas de photo de Luther, n’étant pas certain que ce soit blasphématoire pour les luthériens, vaut mieux être prudent…donc une église, probablement luthérienne ou autre, à Hambourg, voilà bien longtemps, en noir et blanc et quant à moi je suis bien content d’avoir retrouvé ma connexion internet, même si cet article est écrit du bureau….

Finally back on the web from my home, but this post is actually written from the office, it was a bit too late last night and still much to do….so a quick upload of a photograph about a church in Hamburg, so it may be a Lutheran church, but I wont post a picture of Luther, I do not know if it is offensive to Lutherans to have him pictured, so I won’t take any chance, so a picture of a church, in black and white, taken in Hamburg, long time ago….and I am glad to have my internet back at home…

Aussi bien montre la photo que j’ai utilisé pour modifier les textures des vêtements d’un de mes modèles 3d, voir le lien ci-bas pour l’article en question, donc la photo noir et blanc en question, photo prise dans le port d’Hambourg, structure qui fait partie d’un quai…

May as well show the pic I did used a few days ago to modify the clothes and boots texture of one of my 3D models, actually the picture, a black and white shoot, was taken in Hamburg, part of a wharf, here it is…

Eh oui, l’inconvénient de sortir du fond du tiroir des souvenirs qui datent, on ne se souvient plus trop de la date et de l’endroit, si quelqu’un reconnaît cette église reflétée, pour ma part je penche pour Hambourg…

Yes, this is one of the drawback getting out these old ‘things’, so much time went since, I am not sure it this reflected church is in Hamburg, or Cologne…if anybody knows…please refresh my memory…but I do lean for Hamburg…

Une gare…A Station….

C’était dans la gare d’Hambourg, en novembre 1986,  eh oui j’attendais un train vers Cologne, je me suis dit tiens pourquoi pas photographier le tableau des départs, je ne savais pas trop ce que cela donnerait, l’original était un peu terne, mon numériseur ne reconnaissait même pas le cadre de l’image…mais un peu de manipulations, et un peu de photoshop et voilà le résulat, j’aime les gares, ferrovières ou portuaires, ou les aérogares, partir….soupirs….)

It was some day in November 1986, while waiting for a train in direction of Cologne, and it did cross my mind, why not trying to take a shot at the departure screen and some background, my scanner would not frame it correctly, it did not recognize it as a photo I guess…so a bit of forcing, and manipulations in photoshop gave me that photo, I like train station, or ferry boat station, or airports, they have something in common…leaving, travel….:)

Donc bien sûr vous devinez sûrement que des photos d’Hambourg et de Cologne viendront élargir la collection…prochainement….

So if I was in Hamburg, going to Cologne, you probably are guessing that eventually I will post more pics of these two places…you’re right, I just don’t yet the timetable….:)

Photoshop, pour une photo qui je dois l’avouer est un peu trop ordinaire, et en plus j’avais mal placé le négatif sur le support, donc on voit la bordure du négatif, j’aurais évidemment pu le renémuriser mais je ne trouvais que cette photo en valait la peine. Alors je me suis dit que je pourrais essayer quelques effets et réglages dans photoshop, la photo originale…

Photoshop for a rather ordinary photo, not very well done either in the way I took the pic and on top of that, I did not set the negative correctly on the scan slide holder, or it is simply badly set in the slide holder, did not feel like it was worth to try to set it right, but maybe I could try a few tricks in photoshop, here’s the original photo….

Hambourg, Copenhague? 1986-oct

Quelques essais en modifiant la distribution des couleurs, en corrigeant l’exposition, et en jouant avec ‘les courbes’, finalement décidé d’appliquer un filtre sépia, tout en modifiant le ciel en le blanchissant….Je sens que j’ai besoin d’explorer un peu plus tous ces réglages et effets disponibles, je suis loin d’être un ‘expert’ avec ce logiciel, il ne me reste qu’à l’explorer un peu plus je présume…ou de faire plus attention lorsque je photographie, mais celle-ci date de 1986, je ne suis vraiment pas sûr de l’endroit, Copenhague, Hambourg, Gôteborg…un jour je retracerai peut-être l’endroit…

A few try outs, modifying the distribution curbs for exposure, contrast, and playing with a few others effects, making part of the pictures, and finally using a black and white and sepia filter on top of all or mixed with all those modifications…I guess the simpler thing is to take a good photo, and not relying on software to correct it…but sometimes you have to do with what you have, or leave it in a desk drawer. By the way the only thing I do remember about this photo, is I know it was taken in october-november 1986, maybe in Copenhagen, Hamburg or Gôteborg..but can’t say for sure…

Évidemment, ce matin je n’ai pu m’empêcher de retravaillé quelque peu le tableau des derniers jours….lorsqu’on est, comment dire obsédé, quoique je n’aime pas la connotation qu’on peut attacher à ce mot…disons fortement inspiré au point de perdre de vue, que j’ai d’autres tableaux et projets qui attendent, comme un pastel par exemple, donc la dernière version de ce tableau qui reste accroché à mon chevalet…

This morning, right after coffee, in fact even before coffee, I started working again on this painting, the one I’ve been showing for the last two days…close to an obsession I guess, maybe not but enough to forget that there is some other project I want to continue or begin, like a new pastel maybe….but before the latest version of this painting…

Et la je vous préviens, une rareté, un pastel, un paysage, paysage industriel….photo prise lors d’un voyage voilà très longtemps…la photo est d’ailleurs quelque peu abîmé, taché, et en plus sous exposé..pas d’appareils numériques dans ce temps là, et probablement que c’était une photo prise en me disant que j’en ferais un tableau ou un dessin, donc plus de 25 ans plus tard, je me décide…mais avant pourquoi pas les photos, l’originale et celle après traitement dans photoshop, les couleurs m’importent peu, plus l’ambiance que je voulais obtenir…quant aux couleurs, ce sera selon l’inspiration du moment avec le pastel….

And something quite unusual, for me, a pastel, and more than that a landscape, industrial landscape….a photo taken long time ago, Hamburg port, the photograph is old and not very good, underexpose, no numeric camera at that time, and the scanned print has been damaged, a bit dirty…probably I took this telling myself that I did not care about quality, it would be either a painting, or a drawing, so more than 25 years later here it is…but before, maybe I should show the original photograph and the modified one in photoshop, did not care much about the colors, more the mood, and colors anyhow come pretty well by themselves when I’m working with pastels, feeling of the moment will decide…
