E-0038 – Trio Resa, Marylin et Mnemosyne

Voilà quelques jours, j’ai présenté une version alternative de ce tableau, en fait je devrais plutôt dire l’esquisse digitale, quoique cela aurait été pratiquement impossible pour moi d’ajouter ces silhouettes sur le tableau ‘physique’…je pense que vous vous en doutiez déjà, du moins je le présume…., maintenant les versions plus réalistes, non présentées, deux versions du travail de la même soirée…

A few days ago, I did post a so called alternate version of this painting, or is it the digital version, of course it is digital, would have been difficult for me to do that on the physical painting, but you did know that already, I am sure you did know..:) So from the same work session, 2 versions, the more realistic ones

Comme vous pouvez le constater, une autre de ces ‘versions alternative’, mais vous pouvez sûrement deviner qu’elles ne sont pas disparues, seulement momentanément placées dans leurs calques qui sont fermées…travaillé quelque peu les formes et édités les calques, pour le moment je ne présenterai que cette version qui évoluera peut-être vers quelque chose d’autre, cela reste à voir et surtout à faire…mais on peut deviner l’ombre de Resa, Mnemosyne et Marylin…qui attendent de revenir à l’avant…

As you can see, this is another of those ‘alternate versions’, what you cannot see is the three models Resa, Mnemosyne et Marylin, of course now they have their own layer in this digital version started from the painting photo, for now I will present only the shapes versions of this sketch, it has been slightly edited, maybe more then a little, will this be taken further, probably but will have to see and mainly do it….and you can bet that Resa, Mnemosyne and Marylin will come in front of those shapes eventually…

Édité ce tableau, qui est là depuis bien longtemps, donc des corrections, quoique le changement le plus important, est que l’atelier n’est toujours en place, oui je ne réussi toujours pas à prendre le temps de le terminer, plus facile de modéliser en 3d des modèles ou de prendre ma tablette et de travailler des esquisses, faudrait que je prenne finaleemnt le temps, donc oui en attedant, c’est retravaillé à la tablette, probablement que si vous avez remarqué l’appellation de l’image, c’était déjà un indice, donc plus un document de travail, ou plutôt une version distincte, un tableau toujours dans le même état et cette esquisse, de travail ou ce sera une oeuvre bien distince mais traitant les même sujets…pour le moment, je suis indécis…donc l’image est lié au tableau, pas fait de page encore pour cette esquisse, cela viendra si l’indécision quitte….:)

Did reworked this painting, yes, maybe you did noticed something odd, but if not, it is quite understandable, not too many changes yet, but if the oil strokes do seems bezard, it is because they are not oil brushes strikes, the Atelier is not yet set up, I should take the time to do it, but seems I cannot come around this, and most of the time I do end up drawing with the tablet or modelling models in 3d…so that is why this oil painting is now reworked as an Digital art sketch…a working version to continue the painting, or maybe something that will stand on his own, maybe both, at this time, I don’t know, indecision….for now the image is linked to this painting page’s, when the indecision is over…there will be a page, it the decision is to go ahead with it…

Une ancienne version, l’installation de l’atelier progresse, j’espère que ce sera fonctionnel au cours de la fin-de-semaine qui vient, un long congé ici au Québec, 2e longue fin de semaine, l’hiver on a Noël et le jour de l’an à une semaine d’intervalle; fin juin on a nos deux fêtes nationales….celle du Québec le 24 juin et le Canada le 1er juillet, quoique en tant que retraité, cela a moins d’importance maintenant, en attendant une vieille version de ce tableau, je mettrai plus d’information sur ce tableau, quoique si vous recherchez le tableau 444…vous aurez les autres articles, donc en attendant une version retravaillée, en voici une vieille, il en reste d’autres, j’y arriverai…dans quelques jours.

An old version, July 20222, the atelier installation is progressing, I am hoping to have it set up over the coming long week-end, in winter time we have Christmas and New year’s day, in summer here in Quebec we have our two national day, for Quebec and Canada at one week interval, some kind of symetry I guess…Since I am now retired, it does not have the same effect as when I was working…well now back to this painting, I will provide more information over the next few versions, that should come over the next few days, in the meantime if you look for any post with tagword 444, you should be able to look into all presented version so far, so here’s the pic taken some time in July 2022…

En me remettant dans mes fichiers, je me rends compte que j’avais une liste de tableaux et d’esquisses à mettre à jour dans mes sites….donc je m’y mets de ce pas, enfin frappes de clavier….un tableau présentant une des robes de Resa, une bonne amie blogueuse, même si parfois je me tais un peu trop longtemps

Still in the process of sorting out what was published and what was in ‘standby’, so a version about a friend of mine, blogging friend, even if my absence make it a bit hard to keep in touch, you do know her probably, not the first time I am presenting this painting, involving her beautiful work.

Et pourtant je m’étais bien dit que plus jamais cela n’arriverait…travailler ce tableau, bein sûr que non, mais avoir une chatte, eh oui ma période abstinence est finie…non pas l’alcool, ni de manger tout croche, parfois, mais une chatte, donc je devrai me soumettre, tout en étant conscient, à sa douce dictature à coup de miaow, prrrrr, brrr et autres onomatopées chatesques…

Of course I did told myself never again, finding all kind of good reasons to not break my abstinence period, no not talking about painting, or drinking, or sometimes not eating what a diabetic person shall avoid…no I am talking about a new cat, female, to whom I guess I have decided to bow and become her willing slave…

Et aussi au cours des derniers jours, retravaillé le fond photo pour le tableau de Resa, Mnemosyne et Marylin, RMM ou MMR selon l’ordre d’importance des personnages du tableau, pas encore décidé de l’ordre final, ni de la lumière, dififérente dans le tableau par rapport au photo montage, cela non plus pas décidé de ce qui serait le mieux…

And also it might be noteworthy to mention that I did work on my tough composition, namely MMR or RMM depending the order of presention, today it is Resa, Mnemosyne and Marylin in her red dress…I did some work trying to fit all parts a bit better on the montage photo, but looking at the painting now and the montage, the light and shades are not quite the same, more like totally different, of course I cannot set my mind, which one is good or right or left, no that is fixed, it wont change…

Là je pense que je dois de nouveau le laisser reposer ce tableau, aussi et cela s’applique à toutes mes toiles, pense que je me dois d’appliquer des couches de vernis intermédiaires, sais pas si c’est le fait qu’ils sont restés longtemps exposés à l’air, mais la surface est un peu difficile à travailler, cela leur fera du bien..

And now I think I have to let it dry a bit and apply some intermediate varnish, the surface is kind of difficult to work, maybe the long delays between sessions have made them a bit dusty and difficult , but I think this should help equalizing the paintings surface, at least I thing it will…

Mais en attendant, voici la version du 3 juillet, non pas la plus récente, doit préparer les autres photos / But it the meantime, here’s the July 3 th version, not the most recent one, still have to prepare the other pics.

Et pour Maya, c’est son nom la nouvelle, ben j’espère qu’elle s’habitura rapidement à son nouveau domaine, elle est le boss mais elle devra apprendre, qu’un tableau à l’huile ou autre n’est pas un champ de pratique pour griffes…

As for Maya, that’s her name, the new master cat of the place, hopefully she will soon feel at home, she might be the Empress, and I her servant, but she will have to lean that a painting is not like another type of scratch post….

Bette Davis eyes…non plutôt Marylin..ou suite à MMR…

Je pensais à cette chanson de Kim Carnes, chanson que j’aime bien mais qui n’a aucun rapport avec la difficulté que j’ai avec ce tableau, pas rendu au visage, encore moins aux yeux de Marylin, suis encore en pleine ‘bataille’ afin de rendre ses mains et ses bras correctement ou du moins décemment….pour le moment la bataille est loin d’être gagnée, le bon côté est qu’elle est aussi loin d’être perdue, pour le reste que dire, le tableau progresse bien, du moins au moment d’écrire ses lignes, est ce que ce sera le cas lorsque je publierai l’article, cela reste à voir, surtout si je ne le publie que dans quelques semaines…..en attendant, allez un café, un muffin et retour à l’atelier, ah que la vie est difficile…:) disons que ce n’est pas toujours le cas, mais cet avant-midi, tout près de la fin de semaine, quoique pour moi depuis des années, cela n’a plus la même signification que cela a déjà eu…mais doit rester un vieux reflexe endormi, tiens, c’est un nouveau type de reflexe cela, faudrait que je demande à monsieur Pavlov, ah la lumière s’allume, vite à l’atelier, et j’ai hâte de voir la récompense….

No, no problem with Bette Davis eyes, just kind of remind that beautiful song by Kim Carnes, no my problem are not with Bette eyes, not even Marylin eyes, the painting I am working on now, don’t have any problem with Marylin’s eye, I am not quite there yet, for the last few sessions I am more in a struggle, almost a full range battle with her hands and arms, of course they are kind of related….so far the battle isn’t lost, and by the same way, not win, but I thing it is winnable, just have to figure out a few things, as for the rest of this painting, it does progress in a good way, at least it seems like that this morning, still have to manage how to integrate the 3 characters of this painting, maybe I will go back to my tablet to sort out a few things, but so far so good on this almost week-end, time for a coffee, muffin and back to the easel, week-end….well it used to meant more to me this moment, but for the last few years it is more like a reminiscent souvenir, or some kind of reflexe…Mr Pavlov does it qualify as a reflex ? dont’t know…ah light on, must go back to the easel, and well where is my reward, my Pavlov ?

Finalement, je dirais que son visage commence à prendre forme, par contre j’avoue que je me perds un peu quant à savoir comment je vais intégrer les arrière-plan des trois images de références, un peu de photoshop pour mettre à jour mon image de synthèse, vais probablement la retravailler avant de terminer ce tableau, qui je crois progresse bien…

Finally, Marylin’s face is coming though and it does take shape, now my problem is more about how to integrate three different backgrounds into one, reworked the photoshop montage to make a new reference image, probably it will change again before coming to the end on this painting, that start to look to way I did imagine it, hopefully it will be up to my expectations…

MMR….un acronyme…An acronyme

On dirait que partout on rencontre des acronymes, donc en voici un autre, non pas un organisme connu, tout simplement pour faire un titre plus court, rien d’autre…donc c’est une version intermédiaire, donc oui d’autres viendront, sous plus ou moins peu de temps, donc ce tableau de Marylin, Mnemosyne et Resa…ou MMR….

There is so many of them around, so I figure I can add one of my own, not a known organism, not even an organization, it mainly to have a shorten title, so in fact this is an updated version, not final, there will probably be a few yet to come, of this painting of Marylin, Mnemosyne and Resa.

Toujours un peu difficile d’amagalmer trois photos dans un tableau, toujours un défi de composition et d’harmoniser les trois inspirations dans un tableau qui se tient, surtout après la longue intermission depuis la dernière fois que j’ai travaillé ce tableau, j’avais quelques appréhensions avant de m’y remettre, au moins cette fois ci, je pense que je peux dire que ces appréhensions n’étaient pas fondées…on s’en fait souvent des appréhensions non fondées, parfois fondées, finalement vaut mieux y aller et voir ce qui arrivera.

I always a bit weary when I work on a painting with a composition that is a bit unusual, like having three models to focus on, how to integrate them without having them looking that they should be on a different painting, I tried to make it so they do seem to be integrated, and at that time, it was only a few days since I came back from being a ‘silent painter’, may be not silent but not doing anything drawing or painting wise, so here’s the new version of this painting
